The basics

4G, LTE and LTE-Advanced: what the names mean

LTE (Long Term Evolution) is the radio standard that 3GPP published in Release 8. Carriers sell it as 4G, which is why "4G proxy", "LTE proxy" and "4G LTE proxy" all describe the same line: a modem on the carrier's LTE network with a SIM card in it.

LTE-Advanced, from Release 10 on, bonds several LTE channels together (carrier aggregation) for more throughput. Most 5G networks first launched as non-standalone 5G, which keeps an LTE link next to the 5G radio. That is why 4G LTE still carries most mobile data, and why it is the default line type in our catalog.

  • Standard

    LTE (4G)

    5G non-standalone
A carrier entry with 5G in its name
Under the hood

How a 4G LTE proxy gets its IP

The address a website sees is decided by the carrier, not by the modem or by us.

The modem attaches to the carrier's LTE network and gets a private address. Carriers have far more subscribers than public IPv4 addresses, so they put many devices behind each public address with carrier-grade NAT. IETF RFC 6598 reserves 100.64.0.0/10 for exactly this shared address space.

Your request leaves the modem, crosses the carrier's network and reaches the website from one of the carrier's public IPs, shared at that moment with ordinary phone users. Blocking that address would lock out real customers, which is why anti-abuse systems treat 4G carrier ranges with care. More in how CGNAT shapes mobile IP trust.

When you rotate, the modem drops its data session and reconnects, and the carrier usually assigns a new public IP from the same network. A carrier can also move a line to a new IP on its own, which this note on carrier IP changes explains.

Before you buy

Why 4G lines, and why no 3G

Three facts that decide which line type fits.

3G is switched off

AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon closed their US 3G networks during 2022, and the German networks closed theirs in 2021. A mobile line in those countries is on LTE or 5G.

Coverage is wider on LTE

LTE reaches more places than 5G, so 4G lines are listed in more countries and regions. The table above shows where they are today.

The IP looks the same

Websites rate the carrier network, not the radio. Pick 5G for throughput in a 5G area, not for a better IP.

How to check

How to check that a proxy IP is a 4G carrier IP

Four steps, a few minutes, no special software beyond curl or a browser.

  1. Send one request through the line

Use the host, HTTP port, login and password from the dashboard. The answer is the public IP websites see.
    Shell
    curl -x http://LOGIN:PASSWORD@HOST:HTTP_PORT https://ifconfig.me
  2. Look up the network that owns the IP

Paste the IP into the ASN lookup. A 4G line shows the mobile carrier's own network, not a hosting or cloud company.
  3. Check the IP type and reputation

The what-is-my-IP page and the IP reputation checker show the connection type and how blocklists rate the address.
  4. Rotate and check again

Change the IP from the dashboard, the API or the rotation link, then repeat step 1. The new IP should belong to the same carrier network.
Use cases

What 4G LTE mobile proxies are used for

Anywhere a site judges you by your IP and expects phone traffic: multi-account management, ad verification, local search and SEO monitoring, app testing and web scraping of sites that block hosting ranges. For worked examples, read 4G LTE mobile proxy use cases.

What you get with every line

  • Each line is one physical device with its own SIM, rented to one customer.
  • HTTP and SOCKS5 on every line.
  • Change the IP from the dashboard, through the API, with a rotation link or on a timer (60 seconds minimum).
  • Data is not metered on dedicated lines.
  • Billed for 24 hours, 7 days or 30 days in USD. Not every carrier offers all three.

Every line on this page is one of our dedicated mobile proxies: one physical device with its own SIM, rented to one customer for the whole period.

FAQ

Questions and answers

What is a 4G mobile proxy?

A 4G mobile proxy is a proxy server that sends your traffic through a modem on a carrier's 4G LTE network. Websites see the carrier's public IP address, the same kind of address phone users on that network have.

Is a 4G proxy the same as an LTE proxy?

Yes. LTE is the 3GPP standard behind what carriers sell as 4G, so "4G proxy", "LTE proxy" and "4G LTE proxy" describe the same thing. LTE-Advanced lines are LTE lines with carrier aggregation.

Which 4G carriers are in stock?

Right now: Vivo, Geocell, Magti, 1&1, O2, Vodafone Germany, Odido NL and Vodafone NL. The table on this page lists every 4G carrier in the catalog with its own stock badge and prices.

How much does a 4G mobile proxy cost?

A 4G line costs from $7 for 24 hours and from $97 for 30 days, depending on the country and carrier. Prices are per dedicated line in USD.

Do websites treat 4G and 5G IPs differently?

No. A website sees the carrier's public IP and the network it belongs to, not the radio technology. A 4G line and a 5G line on the same carrier come from the same address pools and the same carrier-grade NAT.

Is 4G fast enough for my work?

For account management, browsing, ad checks, local search and scraping at normal volumes, yes. Speed depends on the carrier and the signal at the device, so run your real workflow on a 24-hour line before a 30-day plan.

Can I pick 4G or 5G on the same carrier?

Where a carrier has 5G lines, they are listed as their own carrier entry: T-Mobile 5G, Verizon 5G, O2 5G, Vodafone Germany 5G and Three 5G. Everything else in the catalog is 4G LTE.

Why are there no 3G proxies?

Carriers have switched their 3G networks off. In the United States AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon closed 3G during 2022, and the German networks closed theirs in 2021, so mobile data in those countries runs on LTE or 5G.

How do I check that an IP belongs to a mobile carrier?

Send a request through the line to an IP echo service, then look the IP up in an ASN lookup. A 4G line shows the carrier's own network. The steps are on this page.

How do I change the IP on a 4G line?

Use the dashboard button, an API call, the line's rotation link or a timer that is off or set to 60 seconds or more. The device reconnects and the carrier usually hands it a new IP from the same network.

Is data metered on 4G lines?

No. Data on dedicated lines is not metered: you pay for the period, not for gigabytes.

Which protocols does a 4G line support?

HTTP and SOCKS5 on every line. An OpenVPN profile is available on every line in stock today for Vivo, Geocell, Magti, 1&1, O2, Vodafone Germany, Odido NL, Vodafone NL, Play, M1, Singtel, Three and Verizon; the dashboard shows it per line for the rest.

Is the 4G line shared with other customers?

No. Each line is one physical device with its own SIM, rented to one customer. The carrier itself shares its public IPs between many subscribers through carrier-grade NAT, which is normal on every mobile network.

Can I manage 4G lines through an API?

Yes. Create a token in the dashboard under Account - API Access. The REST API covers stock, buying, renewal, rotation and replacement, and the same account works with the SDK, the CLI and the MCP server.

Automate with the API, MCP or CLI

Check stock, rotate IPs and fetch connection details from code or an AI agent.
